History San José Honors Frank Fiscalini at Annual Valley of Heart’s Delight Event

San Jose, CA --- March 5, 2014 -- History San José has announced that Frank Fiscalini will be honored at the annual Valley of Heart’s Delight event on June 28 at History Park.

"Frank Fiscalini has contributed so much to San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley," said Alida Bray, President and CEO of History San José. "He is a true Renaissance man and deserves recognition for his many achievements and humble devotion to the betterment of our community."

This year the Valley of Heart’s Delight at History Park will be on Saturday, June 28 from 6 PM to 10 PM. The dinner will be catered by Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, and Fiddle Road will begin the evening of local live entertainment.

Fiscalini has been an unrelenting advocate for education, the arts and the quality of life in the Santa Clara Valley. He began his storied career in education. He was a teacher at James Lick High School and Bellarmine College Preparatory before becoming Superintendent of the East Side Union High School District, where he helped build ten schools in San Jose.

In addition to his many accomplishments, he was the CEO of Alexian Brother Hospital; coordinated the restoration of the historic St. Joseph’s Cathedral; was elected to San Jose City Council, and eventually served as Vice-Mayor. He continues to contribute as an active board member and volunteer for many area non-profits, including serving as a founding board member for Opera San Jose 30 years ago, FACES Silicon Valley for over 40 years, Little Italy San Jose, and History San José.

Individual tickets are $175. Proceeds from the Valley of Heart’s Delight event benefit History San José’s education programs -- where history is serious fun!
